Tandem
How do I become a sponsor / promotion member?
(for individuals)
Perhaps you are interested in promoter status within the Tandem
Foundation. This status was created for people employed at
university, adult education centres, and comparable public
institutions, which do not offer language courses as such (and
cannot obtain member status or a licence) but who would like to use
tandem internally and in exchange projects.
Promoter status offers the following advantages:
* Use of materials without copyright restrictions of those
materials developed within the Tandem network:
- Tips for tandem pairs in Albanian, Arabic, Basque, Bulgarian,
German, Danish, English, French, Italian, Latvian, Polish,
Portuguese, Serbo-Croatian, Slovenian, Spanish, Czech, Hungarian,
Turkish (on paper or electronic).
- Tips for reading comprehension for tandems for special
purposes in Basque, German, English, French, Italian, Portuguese,
Spanish, Slovenian ( e.g. paper or electronic)
* Support with diploma work, for example, and any assistance
required by graduates working on a tandem-related topic.
* Orientation with the help of the research register and access
to our collection of material (reference library).
* Receipt of 'Tandem News' (in electronic PDF format, printable)
three times annually.
* Automatic forwarding of teacher training programmes,
announcements of the International Tandem Conference (ITT) and of
news items from the Tandem Network.
This does not include the right to use the registered trade mark
'TANDEM'.
In addition to these advantages, the promotion membership
introduces the contact to a network of scientists and practitioners
throughout more than a dozen countries, which form a large pool of
experience relevant to the wide range of topics covered by the term
'language - culture - exchange'.

The cost involved
is a fee of € 50 per year.
Contribution of equipment (books, translations, etc.) can be
taken into account. Special arrangements apply to non-EU and all
developing countries.
In practice, admission normally takes place as
follows:
You write us an informal letter in which you request promotion
membership, letting us know which institution you work at and why
TANDEM interests you (1/2 page or so). We will process the admission
internally and communicate our response to you. You then transfer
the relevant fee and shortly after that you will receive the
requested material.
If you are not a practising tandem user, participation in a
Tandem introductory
course or a self
access package with tutor may be of interest to you.
For any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us at
the address above.
